We are looking forward to welcoming you at school on Monday 9 August at 10:00.

On this page, we have gathered important information for you regarding the first period in school.

There is also a welcome letter and other information for your parents.

Since we do not yet know the exact guidelines form the Danish health authorities regarding the start of the school year, the plans for the beginning of the school year might change. We will communicate any changes to you should they occur.

We are looking forward to welcoming you!

If you will be staying at the boarding school, you can find further information below.

Welcome speech by the principal Henrik Vestergaard Stokholm

The individual classes follow their class coordinator and tutors to the classrooms, where you will receive information about the schedule as well as other practical information. After this, different intro activities will follow, including a tour of the school.

The school provides a light lunch on the first day, so you do not have to bring your own.

The first day of school is over.

During the first few weeks, we have planned a special introductory programme for you and your new classmates, so you will get to know each other and find your way around the school, and the period ends with the Intro Party.

During the first week, you will receive your books. Nyborg Gymnasium has online access to Gyldendal’s dictionaries, but if you need dictionaries that translate to other languages than Danish, you need to acquire your own.

Futhermore, you will receive a free version of the Microsoft Office package, so you do not need to buy it yourself. We expect you to bring a laptop to school.

At the beginning of your Pre-IB-programme, you need to purchase a graphical display calculator. We strongly suggest that you buy a TI-84 Plus CE-T calculator, since these models are used by our mathematics teachers in the classes, and are approved for the exams by the IB.

At the start of the school year, you will receive more information about the school rules and regulations, as well as other practical information to make you feel at home at Nyborg Gymnasium.

Participation in the intro period is compulsory.

On Friday 20 August we will host an intro party if the Danish health authorities will allow it. If possible, your parents can come an enjoy a refreshment, while they watch you dance Les Lanciers with your new classmates. After the dance, the party will continue for all the new students.

Both Pre-IB and IB parents have the possibility of attending a virtual introductory meeting with the IB and Deputy IB Coordinators. The meeting will take place within the 2nd or 3rd week of the school year. More information will follow at the beginning of the school year.

The intro activities and the intro party cost a total of DKK 100. Payment for this must take place between Monday 9 August at 8:00 and Friday 20 August at 17:00. Students with NemID can pay via Only the student’s own NemID can be used for payment. You can find a link to pay at the bottom of our website page.
